A dramatic high-speed pursuit unfolded in Kinney County on March 18, as Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers engaged in a harrowing chase with a human smuggler. The pursuit, initiated by DPS troopers, saw the driver of the vehicle allowing several illegal immigrants to flee before he was caught. The driver, identified as an illegal immigrant hailing from El Salvador and residing in Pennsylvania, was promptly apprehended and faces charges of smuggling of persons and evading arrest. Startlingly, the driver disclosed to troopers that he was lucratively compensated for his illicit activities, purportedly transporting illegal immigrants across state lines, aided by his 16-year-old accomplice. During the operation, five illegal immigrants from Mexico were apprehended and subsequently referred to Border Patrol custody.
