Russia has confirmed the destruction of a Ukrainian HIMARS launcher for the first time almost two years after the American artillery system was first delivered to Kyiv. Drone footage uploaded by Moscow shows a HIMARS launcher parked at the edge of a field before it is struck by an incoming Russian rocket, likely an Iskander missile. The HIMARS bursts into flames as the ammunition catches light, indicating it is not a decoy – which Ukraine has been using to keep its genuine launchers safe. At least two HIMARS were previously damaged in Ukraine and sent back to the US to be repaired, but this is the first confirmed loss. Kyiv is thought to have dozens more launchers and immediately hit back, using them to blow up three Russian Uragan multiple rocket launch systems.
