An animal rescue service in South Africa has announced a $65,000 reward for information on Baanksy, a painting sheep who vanished on February 1.
According to the sanctuary, Baanksy—whose artwork is sold globally—was discovered missing after failing to appear at his studio for a piece commissioned by a UK client.
The founder and director of the farm told 2OceansVibe: ‘He was either stolen but there were no signs of a break-in, or out somewhere roaming the Winelands. We don’t know why this particular sheep went missing when we have 10 of them.’
Baanksy, a 2.5-year-old sheep, was rescued in 2022 after being found on the roadside in Karoo, a region known for intense sheep farming in South Africa, according to the sanctuary.
