Between 2014 and 2018, Manchester had the fastest economic growth rate of anywhere in the country, including London. Since 2000 our population had grown from 422,000 to 600,000 and we were seeing unprecedented levels of new commercial and residential construction. One in five jobs in the whole of Greater Manchester were based in the city centre. Manchester was a place people wanted to be.
The pandemic has been an interruption but it hasn’t diminished our ambitions for a greener, more inclusive economy.
We’re back and stronger than ever.
