Five elderly people were injured after a truck loaded with bricks lost control and careened the wrong way down a street in Peru. Dramatic CCTV footage showed the truck smashing into another car in the east of the capital Lima whilst shedding its load into the road. Multiple other vehicles were forced to dodge out of the way as the driver – who was unable to stop – headed towards the town centre. The truck overturned shortly afterwards, spraying bricks across the pavement and leaving five elderly people injured. Rescuers rushed to the scene and took them to hospital, where they are recovering. The cause of the crash was given as a ‘technical failure’.
