Ukrainian troops have revealed the bitter conditions in which they defended the city of Avdiivka for seven months against an all-out Russian attack before they finally had to retreat from the city under a brutal bombardment. The 47th Brigade, one of Ukraine’s most elite units, showed how their soldiers protected the vital Avdiivka Coke Plant from assaults by Putin’s men, inflicting eye-watering casualties on them whilst successfully holding the line. Meanwhile more footage from the 3rd Assault Brigade, which was sent into Avdiivka at the last moment to help with the withdrawal, shows their troops preparing for combat missions in a basement HQ at the same Coke Plant – discussing how the Russians are throwing everything at the city whilst also heavily bombing the plant in an attempt to destroy the headquarters. Yet more video taken during the evacuation shows how night convoys moved in to get the men out, with the night sky lit up by bombs and shells.
