Michael O’Brien was aged 19 when he was arrested and charged with killing Phillip Saunders, a 52-year-old newsagent found dead in his Cardiff garden in October 1987.
He and two other men called Darren Hall and Ellis Sherwood – known as the ‘Cardiff Newsagent Three’ – spent 11 years in jail until their convictions were overturned in 1999.
He now spends his time campaigning for other victims of miscarriages of justice.
