Ukraine’s 3rd Assault Brigade revealed their mission to clear the town of Orlivka of Russian troops, as they try to stop Putin’s men advancing beyond the city of Avdiivka, which fell to the Russians last month. First-person footage shows how assault teams were given a warm welcome by the Russians, with a 120mm mortar shell narrowly missing the troops as they arrived in the town and devised a plan of attack. Two soldiers stayed back to launch rockets at buildings where the Russians were hiding, before the rest of the assault team moved in to clear the houses. An intense firefight broke out, as the Russians called in FPV drone strikes to try and break the Ukrainian attack, but to no avail.
After a heavy battle, the 3rd Assault managed to clear two streets. Orlivka haș since fallen into Russian hands, but is right on the frontline and is still being contested by Ukrainian troops.
