This is the moment a ferry with more than 100 people on board caught fire off the coast of southern Thailand, forcing passengers to jump into the sea to escape the blaze. The overnight ferry left the coastal province of Surat Thani on Wednesday evening and was about to arrive at Koh Tao, a popular tourist destination about a hundred kilometres off the coast in the Gulf of Thailand, when the fire began. Videos shows people hurrying out of the ferry’s cabin while putting on life vests, as thick black smoke sweeps across the ferry. Passengers reported hearing a crackling sound then smelled smoke. Less than five minutes later they saw flames, causing those on board to shout and ring the alarm. Dramatic scenes followed as the ferry was engulfed in fire. Of the 108 people on the ferry, 97 were passengers and Thailand Surat Thani officials confirmed that there were no injuries. #Ferry #fire #blaze
