A grateful cat has been rescued from floodwaters in Dubai after being forced to cling to a car door handle to survive. Police Dubai posted footage of the rescue operation, with two officers using a dinghy to reach the stranded animal. One officer gently picks the cat up while holding it at arm’s length – seemingly afraid the black and white moggy will attack him. But the cat realises it is being helped, and allows the man to place it into his boat before meowing with gratitude. Much of Dubai is underwater following torrential rains which struck on Tuesday afternoon, with 10 inches falling in a matter of hours – the most since records began 75 years ago. One person died in the UAE while 20 more were killed in storms that lashed neighbouring Oman. Dubai airport, the world’s second-busiest, was particularly hard-hit during the storm and operations there are still heavily disrupted. #dubai #floods #habibi
